The Ozoro kingdom, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta celebrated the yultide, 2024 in grand style with the Oruamudhu Community emerging winner in a yearly football competition organised by Ozoro Progressive Union (OPU) in conjunction with Ozoro Football Association (OFA).
The grand finale of the football match which was played last Wednesday, has Oruamudhu Community Football Club defeating Uruto Community Football Club with 1:0 thereby leading them to be the winner of 2024 Ozoro Football Association (OFA) tournament.
Presenting the cup to the winner, Oruamudhu Community, through the team captain, Tobore Laly, the President-General of Ozoro Kingdom, Odio Beckley Asiafa, encouraged the players to be of good behaviour as that is the only way to continually make Ozoro proud and known to the world at large.
The Chairman of the event, Hon. Orobosa Ashaka, who in his remarks at the event on Wednesday, said the competition was meant to strengthen the unity of indigenes and residents, donated the sum of N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira Only) towards the full registration of OFA and it’s league while promising registration of two best players in one of the leading football academies in the world.
“We use this opportunity to create a memorable experience to foster unity among the families, residents and the community at large.
“Ozoro is peaceful and developing, we want the peaceful coexistence to continue even between us and residents of the community.
“All of us are one and we will continue to live as one to foster unity and development,” Ashaka added
Highlights of the event include the launching of 10 Million Naira football kits for Ozoro United F.C, promise of the full registration of OFA and league 2025 season, and presentation of the Cup to the winner, among others.
Present at the field of event were football fans, spectators and participating teams. Others include the Chairman of OFA, Comr. Prince Blessing Elerara, BOT Chairman, Hon. Comr. Benson Apije Chairman, OFA Local Organising Committee Chairman, Chief Friday Arah and the Chairman of the grand finale Ceremony, Hon. Orobosa Ashaka and others.
