A pressure group, Isoko Ethnic Nationality Movement (IENM) has appealed to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to appoint the pioneer chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, Prophet Jones Erue as the Managing Director of the new board of South South Development Commission (SSDC).

The group, in a statement by Comrade Goddey Ewerode, said: “President Tinubu should consider the pioneer chairman of APC in Delta State who will give the new commission the leadership and effective representation that aligns with the region need in the area of infrastructural development “.
According to the group, “as the pioneer Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Prophet Jones Erue has showcased exceptional leadership, steering the party to its current position of influence”.
The group also affirmed that, “his tenure was marked by significant political milestones, including the emergence of a Deputy Senate President in the 2019 general elections. These achievements underscore his ability to navigate complex political terrains and deliver results.”

The group also asserted that “Erue’s contributions to the APC in Delta State remained undeniable. His appointment as Commissioner representing Delta State on the NDDC board in 2019 was a well-earned recognition of his efforts, though he was not sworn in. Despite this setback, he remained steadfast in his commitment to the party, demonstrating resilience and dedication.
“His leadership was further evident in his seamless transition programmes, which facilitated the emergence of new party officials from the ward to state levels upon completing his two terms as State Chairman”.
The group however added that “beyond his political expertise, Prophet Jones Erue’s appointment would also address the historical marginalization of the Isoko Nation, an oil-producing ethnic group in Delta State.
“Despite their significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy, the Isoko people have often been sidelined in federal appointments and infrastructural development. Erue’s leadership at the SSDC would not only ensure proper representation but also serve as a form of recognition for his instrumental role in strengthening the APC in Delta State”.
The group further opined that as an astute politician and administrator, he possesses the necessary skills to drive the SSDC’s mandate, saying that his experience in fostering and sustaining political relationships will be invaluable in securing the partnerships and collaborations needed for the commission’s success.
They further emphasized that appointing him as the pioneer Managing Director of the SSDC is a strategic and forward-thinking decision, noting that his political acumen, administrative expertise, and deep understanding of the region’s needs make him the ideal candidate to lead the commission, ensuring meaningful development and inclusive growth for the South South region.
