The new Vice Chancellor of the Delta State University, Abraka, Prof.Samuel Asagba, has last Sunday paid a condolence visit to Dr. Prosper Irogbo and his family on the death of their mother, Mrs. Eunice Irogbo.
Speaking during the visit at Dr. Irogbo’s country home at Uzere, Isoko South Local Government Area, Prof. Asagba said the loss of a mother is usually painful, no matter the age but that as humans and Christians, we are enjoined to submit to the will of God at all times.
He urged the family to take heart and remain united as they plan towards the final burial rites for the late septuagenarian.
The Vice Chancellor who was accompanied on the visit by the Dean of Faculty of Sciences, DELSU, Prof. Atunuje also promised to attend the burial slated for the weekend at Uzere.
In his remarks, Dr. Irogbo who is a lecturer, Sociology Department, DELSU and also the first son of the late Mrs. Eunice Irogbo thanked the Vice Chancellor for finding time to visit and commiserate with him and his family, noting that it is a great honour more especially when the VC is just a week old in office.
Also speaking in the same vein, Prof. Ben Owhe- Ureghe of the Department of Microbiology, DELSU and a family friend of the Irogbos appreciated the kind nature of Prof. Asagba whom he described as “humility personified Vice Chancellor of the premier University of Delta state”.
He then prayed for a successful tenure of the new VC, adding that the new appointment is just the beginning of brighter days ahead.
The high point of the visit was the signing of the Condolence register by Prof. Asagba
Present at the event were members of the Irogbo family, Community leaders and friends of the family including Odio Jones Agbaka, Prof. Okoro, Rector, Delta Poly, Burutu, Barr. Afor Irogbo and Chief Mrs. Ogweri amongst others.
