A Delta State Magistrate Court sitting in Olomoro Magisterial District, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State has barred the embattled immediate past President of the Isoko Develpment Union (IDU) Youth Wing, Mr. Fidelis Obokpaino Iraroraina from parading himself as the President of the Youth Wing of Isoko Develpment Union (IDU).
His Worship C. E. Amudo gave this order in a case in Suit Number MCM/8/2024, filled by Hon. Frederick Efeh (The President General of Okpe-Isoko), Chief Humphrey Odhe (The President General of Ellu Community), Mr. Akparobi Riches Chinedu and Mr. Okeh Ofego Best (For themselves and on behalf of Isoko Nation except the Defendants)
The suit is against the President General of Isoko Develpment Union (IDU), Mr. Fidelis Obokpaino Iraroraina, the registered trustees of IDU, Delta State Oil Producing Area Develpment Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Victor Egbo (Hon. Commissioner representing Isoko Ethnic Nationality in DESOPADEC), Chief Kome Okpobor (Executive Director, Finance and Administration, DESOPADEC), Hon. Godwin Ogorugba (Chairman, Isoko North Local Government Area) and Hon. Friday (Chairman Isoko South Local Government Area)
His Worship Amudo, upon the evaluation of Plaintiff/Applicants motion exparte dated 10th day of December, 2024, filed same day and after hearing from F. F. Onomericks, Counsel for the Plaintiffs/Applicants, entered that Mr. Fidelis Obokpaino should stop parading himself as the President of Isoko Develpment Union Youth Wing effect from the 23rd day of December, 2024.
Recall that the court action became necessary to the lDU Youth Wing stakeholders over an alleged suspicious fowl play and financial impropriety against the 2nd Defendant/Respondent, who was reported to be compromising the system to perpetuate himself in office beyond the period stipulated by the bye law, which specified a single tenure of 3 years rotational presidency between lsoko South and North Local Government Areas.
The order specifically read: “That the 1st and 3rd Defendants/Respondents are restricted from appointing Executive for the offices of Isoko Develpment Union Youth Wing from 23rd day of December, 2024 when his tenure expires pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
“That the 2nd Defendant/Respondent are restrained from parading himself as the President of Isoko Develpment Union Youth Wing from 23rd December, 2024 when his tenure expires pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
“That the 4th and 6th Defendants/Respondents are hereby directed to pay the monthly Social Security money of the Isoko Youth Wing of IDU to an interest yielding account to be opened and managed by the Registrar of this Honourable Court from the month of December, 2024 when the tenure of the 2nd Defendant/Respondent expires pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice”
The case was further adjoined to the 10th day of January, 2025 for hearing of the motion.
