Frontline human rights defender in Nigeria, Citizens Rights Concern Enhancement Initiative (CRCEI) also known as Human Rights Protection Congress (HRPC), has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria, calling on Nigerians to promote virtues that strengthen national unity.
In a statement signed and issued to journalists by the National Coordinator of CRCEI, Dcn. Monday Enudi said, “We join millions of Christians across the world to graciously commemorate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and passionately call on Christians across Nigeria to use the Easter season to promote love and shun divisive tendencies in order to build a formidable and united country.
The statement further stated, “On the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration, we urge Christians to reflect on the meaning of the season and look forward for a better tomorrow amid the nation’s current economic challenges.
CRCEI emphasized the noble virtues of Jesus Christ, saying, “Such is urgently needed to foster the unity and cohesion Nigeria so urgently requires, especially at a time sectional interests threaten the bonds that hold the nation together.”
CRCEI further tasked Nigerians to eschew political, religious and ethnic biases and promote peaceful coexistence to foster progress and general well-being of the nation.
“Let us also use this solemn celebration to pray for our country and reach out in love across creeds, and hem our bonds and unity so that our country can overcome the challenges besetting it,” CRCEI stated.
CRCEI added, “We must strive to protect the sanctity of our laws and respect the sacredness of human life by promoting love and tolerance instead of hatred. That way, peace will reign in our country.”
