He made this charge Friday while giving his address during the 4th matriculation ceremony of the institution held at the school’s Event/Convocation Arena.

In his words, “It is an abomination for you to be involved in any form of cultism. You should focus on the reasons why you have come to the University and therefore shun all acts of misconduct which have been clearly stated in the Students’ Handbook.”

Speaking further, Prof. Oboreh urged all students to obtain a copy of the Students’ Handbook for them to be well abreast with the rules and regulations governing students’ activities in the University.

“Let the handbook be your guide. You should also read notices on boards for information” adding that ignorance is no excuse in law.

“All students should continue to reflect on these words of wisdom as you progress in your studies”.

Furthermore, the VC assured all students of the commitment of the University’s staff and management to their welfare.

“We shall continue to maintain high standards of discipline and commitment to excellence. You should not try to solve your problems alone or keep them to yourselves. Bring up your problems and we shall assist you as much as possible.”

Continuing, Prof. Oboreh acknowledged the former Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for finding him worthy of being appointed the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University.

He also acknowledged the incumbent Governor of the State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F. Oborevwori who passed the bill establishing the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro and two other universities in 2021 when he was the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

“It would be recalled that I was the Rector of the defunct Polytechnic between 2012 and 2017, a period that saw great transformation of the institution and I am here again as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University to continue the developmental works that I initiated years ago.”

Major highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the matriculation oath on the students by the Registrar, Mrs Stella Muoboghare.
Dignitaries present at the event include Prof. J. Snapps Oboreh, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Ogochukwu Emiri, the University’s Librarian, Nigeria Red Cross Society (Isoko North Division), Mrs Hope Uzoamaka the Student Affairs Officer, Deans of Faculties, parents amongst others.
